Objective
The Senior Policy Officer role will drive economic development policy positioning, advocacy, and governance for the Aboriginal business sector. The role will involve strategic analysis, stakeholder engagement, and collaborative efforts to advocate for policies and strengthened support for economic empowerment and sustainability of the Aboriginal business sector.
Duties
- Work in collaboration with Aboriginal Peak Organisations NT to support key issues of joint interest affecting Aboriginal people in the NT, including providing practical policy solutions to Government.
- Provide leadership, guidance, support and a point of contact for staff and managers on NTIBN Board governance and operations.
- Provide strategic communications and high-level evidence-based reporting, advice and analysis regarding funding compliance, reviews and assessments to senior management and external entities.
- Build influence and cooperation with key stakeholders to identify emerging issues and develop solutions that support sound Aboriginal Economic Development policy decision approaches.
- Support Board Secretariat for the National Indigenous Business Chamber Alliance.
- Provide well researched, balanced and expert advice within tight timeframes.
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated ability and experience in effective policy development and analysis.
- Demonstrated high-level written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in funding compliance, ensuring attention to detail and deadlines are met.
- High-level judgement, critical thinking and confidentiality in responding to challenging situations and circumstances and producing work to a high standard.
- Highly developed organisational and project management skills.
- Experience in working collaboratively and with influence to resolve issues and develop improved process and approaches to workflow subject to constantly changing priorities.
- Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to develop partnerships while demonstrating teamwork, integrity, impartiality and fairness.
Desirable
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as public policy or business.
